Benzema explains his position on playing El Clasico after his injury against Liverpool

French Karim Benzema, the Real Madrid striker, revealed that he left the field of play, after scoring the winning goal against Liverpool (1-0) in the 78th minute due to a “strong blow to the leg,” and revealed his position on being in El Clasico next Sunday in La Liga.

Benzema analyzed the win over Liverpool in the second leg: “It was a tough game against good opposition but we showed from the start that we want to go forward. It was a good match for the fans and for everyone.”

“Suffering is the epitome of modern football,” he added. Everyone wants more, but sometimes you have to suffer. The most important thing is suffering and success.”

In addition, he did not want to pick any opponent he would prefer to face in the quarter-finals. He appreciated “All teams are good. At this level there are no small teams and matches are decided in small details. We’ll see who faces us.”

Finally, he commented on what he said to his compatriot Eduardo  Camavinga  before, during and after the match, and revealed: “I told him in small details. I know the two Liverpool defenders play very open and I told him to try. He is young, but he is very talented and we are very happy with him.”

Benzema spoke to Movie Star after the match about that injury and said: “I received a strong blow in the leg. It’s just one hit.” Regarding his position on being present in the El Clasico match, he explained: “Yes, I will be present.”
