El Confidencial reveals the two Real Madrid players who refused to join the official Club World Cup photo
Real Madrid won the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup for the eighth time in its history, after defeating Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia by five goals to three in the final match that was held in Morocco.
Real Madrid entered the tournament lacking six players due to injury, as they were not present against the Egyptian club Al-Ahly in the semi-finals: Thibaut Courtois, Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao and Lucas Vazquez.
In the final match, Karim Benzema and Edir Militau were able to be in Morocco and play against Al-Hilal, but the other four players were unable to catch up with that match.
And the Spanish newspaper El Confidential revealed that two players were absent from the official photo of the Club World Cup crown.
Despite their injuries, Thibaut Courtois and Lucas Vazquez traveled to celebrate the title and receive the medals that are considered the culmination of their victory in the Champions League last season, while Eden Hazard and Ferland Mendy refused to travel to receive their medals and be present in the image of coronation, as did the Belgian goalkeeper and the Spanish winger, preferring to focus on the recovery process from injury.
