Valverde chases Villarreal bus before leaving Santiago Bernabeu and hits a player in the face… and AS reveals the reason
Federico Valverde hit Villarreal’s Alex Baena on the cheekbone after the match, according to several sources close to the Yellow Submarines.
The Yellow Club claims to have a videotape of the attack, and according to the Sherengito, the police have already released a statement regarding what happened. And skirmishes occurred between the Uruguayan player and the Villarreal midfielder several times during the match.
However, as the Villarreal players were getting ready to board the bus to leave the Bernabéu, Valverde approached Baena and assaulted him while he was looking at his mobile phone. Moments later, the Villarreal representative posted the following message on his Twitter account: “Vede Valverde, a pimp and a coward.”
Valverde’s account, recounted by Javier Heraiz on Spain’s Carusel Deportivo programme, confirms that Baena told him to “cry now because your son will not be born” on the field of play and in the bus area. “He told me now the same thing he told me about my son on the field,” says the Uruguayan, who was shocked by Villarreal’s behavior.
Valverde and Baena had already played a match in the last 16 of the King’s Cup on January 19, which Real Madrid won after a wonderful rebound on the yellow court (2-3).
In that confrontation, Baena made a gesture that allegedly caused Valverde to cry, causing a verbal spat between the two that now has echoes in the league match at the Bernabéu.
