Real Madrid follows a new strategy to close Mbappe signing
Real Madrid is still interested in Kylian Mbappe, but he will not be able to move to the Paris Saint-Germain star this summer, according to The Athletic newspaper as he outlined a new strategy to sign with the feat French winger.
Real Madrid need to boost their attacking options ahead of next season and believe 24-year-old Kylian Mbappe is still open to joining the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mbappe signed a three-year contract last May with Paris Saint-Germain amid speculation that he would head to Madrid on a free transfer.
It is believed that the term of his new contract is in fact two years with an option for a third year that can only be activated with the player’s consent. If so, Real Madrid will be waiting to sign the French star for free in the summer of 2024.
The France international is enjoying another stellar season with the Parisian side, scoring 25 goals in all competitions so far, as well as winning the World Cup Golden Boot, which included a hat-trick in the final loss to Argentina.
With Karim Benzema approaching the final years of his career, Los Blancos are eager to identify and sign a younger replacement to ensure their attacking line continues to be successful.
Benzema, 35, has struggled with consistency and fitness this season, highlighting the Spanish side’s need to identify other options.
