Rayo Vallecano: “Real Madrid is a very noble club..they refused to exercise their legitimate right so as not to harm us”
Raul Martin Brisa, president of the Rayo Vallecano club, confirmed, via Radio Coupe, that “Fran Garcia will go to Real Madrid at the end of this season. We’ve come to an agreement.”
“Real Madrid prevented Ferran Garcia from going to Bayer Leverkusen because of their clear interest because they consider him a player who can shine,” Vallecano CEO confirmed.
Real Madrid had the option to buy back Fran García for five million euros. Bayer Leverkusen was willing to pay 10 million for Ferran Garcia, but the full-back wanted to return to Real Madrid.
Jose Felix Diaz published in the Marca newspaper that Bayer Leverkusen, led by Xabi Alonso, was willing to pay 10 million euros, which is the value of the release clause to close the signing of Ferran Garcia, but the desire of the 23-year-old was to return to Real Madrid. And last season, Fran Garcia really aroused the interest of Sevilla.
Rayo is grateful that Real Madrid did not exercise its “legitimate right” to take back Ferran Garcia to replace Mendy immediately.
“Real Madrid’s behavior in this deal is that of a very noble club,” Rayo Vallecano president said.
He expressed his gratitude that Real Madrid “did not want” to immediately exercise its “legitimate right” to recover Ferran Garcia by paying 5 million euros to replace the injured Ferland Mendy, who will be absent between five and six weeks. He added, “They did it in order not to harm us, they acted like gentlemen.”
He continued: “We faced a precarious situation and we must realize the nobility with which Real Madrid acted in the process. They have tried to avoid undermining a competitor in this market. Real Madrid is a noble club and we have to thank them.”
How Ferran Garcia arrived at the Real Madrid Academy? His explosion in Rayo Vallecano
Ferran Garcia (Francisco José García Torres) was born in Bolaños de Calatrava (Ciudad) on August 14, 1999 and joined the Real Madrid academy in 2013.
During his time at Real Madrid’s youth academy, he struggled with injuries, having had surgery several times due to a shoulder injury that occurred in a match with Spain’s U19 national team.
His brilliance at the academy led him to be a lower international with Spain and to make his debut for Real Madrid’s first team on December 6, 2018 against Melilla in the Copa del Rey.
In 2020, after excelling at Real Madrid Castilla, he was loaned with a purchase option to Rayo Vallecano, who were then playing in the second division.
With Vallecano, he achieved promotion to the Premier League and established himself as one of the leading left-backs in Spanish football and in June 2021, Rayo Vallecano acquired the right to buy the player.
