Ancelotti blames two players for the drop in Real Madrid’s results
Carlo Ancelotti is facing a big problem this season. Real Madrid’s 2021/22 champions, league and Champions League winners, were Courtois and Benzema, in addition to Vinicius, but the key to success was in the midfield trio of Casemiro, Modric and Kroos.
The three, who played practically everything, were the engine of Real Madrid, the compass that guided matches throughout. Last summer, Casemiro left for Manchester United, in an excellent financial deal that made it possible to pay for the signing of Tchouameni.
It was Ancelotti’s idea for the situation to remain the same, with Kroos and Modric inside with Tchoameni watching their backs. At first, the plan worked, but little by little the idea fell apart.
Luka Modric’s performance has fallen alarmingly, a feeling that began after the World Cup in Qatar. Meanwhile, Toni Kroos’ return is more turbulent than ever, with sometimes good matches and sometimes forgettable performances.
It is no coincidence that Dani Ceballos suddenly appears. The Andalusian, whose contract expires on June 30, was ostracized throughout the early part of the season, but in the end Ancelotti had no choice but to give him a chance.
And Ceballos’ response was excellent as he showed, with tremendous strength, that he is a player capable of playing an important role in Real Madrid. At the moment, the club is considering renewing his contract, something that could not have been imagined a month ago.
Another favorite player was Camavinga, who is having a lot of problems adapting to Real Madrid. The young French talent, who played part of the match against Real Sociedad as a left back due to Mendy’s injury, makes him want it, in addition to his high quality, but he is struggling to get a stable place.
What will he do with Modric and Kroos?
With Modric and Kroos plummeting, Ancelotti has no choice but to look off the bench, giving more minutes to Ceballos and Camavinga, as well as returning Valverde to his foot position in midfield.
In Villarreal, in the second leg of the King’s Cup, Modric was not called up, while Kroos, who started, was replaced after contributing nothing and was replaced by Ceballos, who led the comeback and won.
The debate now is what to do with both legends, whose contracts expire on June 30. The club’s plan was to renew the contract of one of them, to make way for Judd Bellingham, but if they continue to perform as at the beginning of 2023, it is no longer excluded that both players will leave the club.
